Reference & Information Services: The Reference Section contains the important research and reference tools such as Dictionaries, Encyclopaedais, Atlases, Data Manuals, Handbooks in addition to the books on core engineering subjects. Users can contact us for any reference-related queries. We will help you in locating the information you need, provide help in using the online catalog etc.
Under the Inter-Library Loan Scheme, material not available in our Library is procured from neighborhood libraries or sister institutions. The requisition for ILL should be sent with the prior permission of the Director of the Institute.
The library has started providing a Book-Bank facility from July 2004. Students of all the branches from F.E. to B.E. can avail of this faciltiy by paying a nominal charge of Rs. 20/- per book as maintenance charges. The books are to be returned on the last day of the exam of the particular semester. Book Bank Forms are available with the Library.
Helping students gather latest information is the aim of our Library be it through the printed book or the online sources. To fulfill this aim, Internet Search Facility is provided to B.E. students for their Project Work.
Users are made aware of new books added to the Library by way of display. "New Arrivals List" can also be procured from the online catalogue. The pamphlets of new books received from the publishers is distributed to respective faculty members from time to time.
Newspaper articles of interest to the Institute such as AICTE / DTE notifications, Institute's advertisements are maintained and updated on a regular basis.
Technical / Non-technical articles of interest to students for their projects are displayed on the Display Board in the Library and a database is being maintained of the same.
Requisition for new books: Faculty, staff, and
students are encouraged to recommend books, not yet available in
the Library, for acquisition to enrich the library collection.
Recommended books should be relevant to the needs of SFIT.
Requisition forms can be collected form the Library.
Photocopying: Photocopying service is provided by a private company. Users are requested to follow the copyright rules in this regard. The Institute is not responsible for any infringement of the same.
DELNET (www.delnet.nic.in): It was initially sponsored by the National Information System for Science and Technology (NISSAT), Department of Scientific and Industrial Reseach, Government of India and is currently being promoted by the National Informatics Centre, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India and India International Centre, New Delhi. DELNET information resources are bibliographic in nature but it provides the delivery of individual books as and when required by member-libraries and photocopies of journal articles that are published in Indian and Foreign Journals through its Inter-Library Loan/Document Delivery Services. The following is a major list of databases in DELNET:
IEEE (www.ieeexplore.ieee.org) : SFIT library receives 12 IEEE Journals and 14 IEEE Magazines. These can be accessed online by getting the details from the Library. |
