since its inception in 1964. The Institute wanted to go further ahead in
Technical Education in order to facilitate the rapid progress and
development in technical education. It was very much necessary to start
an Institution offering Degree Courses in Technology which are of
extreme use to the students in the modern era. With this view, the
Society of St. Francis Industrial Training Institute was established in
the year 1960 and it also decided to reserve 5 acres land which was
meant for ITI. As the follow up action was taken by the Society the
concerned authorities like AICTE, NEW DELHI, GOVERNMENT OF MAHARASHTRA
in its TECHNICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT and the UNIVERSITY OF MUMBAI were
approached for starting a DEGREE COLLEGE offering three disciplines in
technology namely :1) COMPUTER ENGINEERING, 2) INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY & 3) ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION
in its own building from the academic year 1999-2000. The Society got
the permission from all the concerned authorities and the Degree College
named THE ST. FRANCIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY started from the academic
year 1999-2000 with the above three disciplines with intake capacity of
60 in each and thus led a milestone in the field of technical education
and started to cater the needs of brilliant students in the above
