The partially automated library has collections focusing on engineering and allied subjects. It constantly adds latest books, journals and AV materials to strengthen its existing information base. Its collection as on 31/03/2012 stands as follows:

Services
Apart from the borrowing facilities, the following are some of the many services extended by the library:
Reference & Information Services:
The Reference Section contains the important research and reference tools such as Dictionaries, Encyclopaedais, Atlases, Data Manuals, Handbooks in addition to the books on core engineering subjects. Users can contact us for any reference-related queries. We will help you in locating the information you need, provide help in using the online catalog etc.
Inter-Library Loan:
Under the Inter-Library Loan Scheme, material not available in our Library is procured from neighborhood libraries or sister institutions. The requisition for ILL should be sent with the prior permission of the Director of the Institute.
Book Bank Facility:
The library has started providing a Book-Bank facility from July 2004. Students of all the branches from F.E. to B.E. can avail of this facility by paying a nominal charge of Rs. 20/- per book as maintenance charges. The books are to be returned on the last day of the exam of the particular semester. Book Bank Forms are available with the Library.
Scholar’s Card:
SFIT Library is currently offering “Scholar’s Card” facility to first three toppers of respective branches every semester as a token of appreciation of their efforts.
The privileges of book loan are as follows:
1st. Topper 3 extra library cards (total 5 cards) 1 week
2nd. Topper 2 extra library cards (total 4 cards) 1 week
3rd. Topper 1 extra library card (total 3 cards) 1 week
Rules (for over-dues, reference, and book care) remain the same for the above.
The Scholar’s Card will not be valid after the end of the particular semester.
For procuring the same, following should be submitted to the Library:
Attested copy of exam mark sheet
**Application for “Scholar’s Card” endorsed by
(1) Director (2) Principal (3) Exam Department (4) Librarian
Recent colour stamp-sized photographs (as per the number of extra library cards)
Internet Search Services:
Helping students gather latest information is the aim of our Library be it through the printed book or the online sources. To fulfill this aim, Internet Search Facility is provided to B.E. students for their Project Work.
Information Alert Services:
Users are made aware of new books added to the Library by way of display. "New Arrivals List" can also be procured from the online catalogue. The pamphlets of new books received from the publishers is distributed to respective faculty members from time to time.
Newspaper Clippings Service:
Newspaper articles of interest to the Institute such as AICTE / DTE notifications, Institute's advertisements are maintained and updated on a regular basis.
Article Indexing:
Technical / Non-technical articles of interest to students for their projects are displayed on the Display Board in the Library and a database is being maintained of the same.
Requisition for new books:
Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to recommend books, not yet available in the Library, for acquisition to enrich the library collection. Recommended books should be relevant to the needs of SFIT. Requisition forms can be collected form the Library.
Photocopying:
Photocopying service is provided by a private company. Users are requested to follow the copyright rules in this regard. The Institute is not responsible for any infringement of the same.
