Mission
The Mission of the SFIT Library is to cater to the needs and interests of its academic community by providing recorded information and thought.
Objectives
- To collect, organize and disseminate print and electronic information to the academic community of the institution.
- To enhance and support the research activity of the institution.
- To act as Learning Resource Centre.
Key Facts
SFIT Library started functioning from on 5th September, 1999.
It is a partially automated library which operates using LibSuite Enterprise software (Scrum Systems; formerly Soft-Aid Computers Pvt. Ltd.)
It is located on the second floor of the building with an area of 482.39 sq.m.

Two faculty members from each department (inclusive of the Convener)

Procedure
The committee members will be selected by the academic head of the Institute – the Principal.
Objective
To function as a channel between the library and its users.
Roles
- It will assist in formulating a policy of the library.
- It will look after general maintenance of the library in terms of reading material and infrastructure.
- It will be effectively involved in fostering the reading habit of staff and students.
- It will help in the preparation of the library budget and the annual report to be forwarded to the management of the institute / organization.
- It will recommend / justify / sanction / approve – withdrawal & weeding out of outdated material to the competent authority for final decision in the matter.
- It will assist in arranging / organizing library book exhibitions, seminars, workshops.
- It will prepare the agenda and minutes of the meetings and circulate it to the authorities and to the Librarian.
Frequency of Meetings
The LAC should meet twice in a year.
Tenure
The committee will be functional for a period of one year i.e. two semesters.
