Welcome to SFIT
SFIT Library is an automated library with an open access
system. The books include major collections on Electronics,
Information Technology and Computer Engineering supported by
literature in other walks of life such as English Language and
Literature, Fiction, Travel and Biography. The Library subscribes to
important journals in the field of engineering including IEEE
journals as well.
The library's resources include:
The Main Collection which comprises mainly of textbooks and other related
course material which has been recommended by faculty as per the
University prescribed syllabus. These books have been arranged on
open stacks with an index in the front for the corresponding books.
These books can be issued for a period of 7 days (in the case of
students) and for 1 semester (in the case of faculty).
The Reference Collection comprises of two parts: Books
prescribed by the University of Mumbai are arranged on the last rack
in the main library. Books other than those mentioned in the
syllabus but related to the core subjects in the field of
engineering are in the Reference Room. These books are not allowed
for home issue.
A good variety of reference material on competitive and entrance
exams such as GRE, TOEFL, GMAT, GATE, MCA, SAP/R3 AND MCSE
certifications is also made available to faculty and students alike.
Books on 'Public Speaking', 'Tackling Interviews and Group
Discussions', 'Test of Reasoning', 'Staying in USA'
span the vast collection as well.
Project Reports and Synopsis are shelved on racks behind the main collection of
books. They are arranged branch-wise and given a unique number. They
are issued for a period of 2 days.
The Serial Collection
includes current as well back issues of journals and magazines and
it is housed in the Reference Room. It also consists of newsletters
and annual reports of companies.
Other resources include CD-ROMs of Digit, Electronics For You and
Linux For You magazines. Besides these, syllabus copies, old
question papers of the University of Mumbai, publisher's catalogues,
conference proceedings etc.
Ours is a hybrid library incorporating the latest in Information
Technology as well as giving the impression of a traditional
library. The Library staff aims to provide excellent services to the
In-house faculty as well as to the visitors and students coming to
SFIT.
Our collection is organized using DDC 20.
